CONSUMER – How to recycle properly my electronic devices?
If you want to ensure your devices are accepted—regardless of size, origin, or type—you can always drop them off at our location. At Uni‑Recycle, you can be confident that your equipment will be recycled properly.
What else do you do for the environment?
In addition to the recycling we carry out, we are committed to planting at least the equivalent number of trees to offset the greenhouse gas emissions we generate each year. We have also taken part in cleaning up city streets of waste.
We hold ISO 14001 and R2v3 certifications—the international standards for environmental management and responsible IT recycling—which drive us to continuously improve our operations with respect to the environment.
Here are some concrete actions we take:
- Digitizing our operations
- Purchasing specialized equipment
- Installing systems to prevent any environmental impact
As an R2v3 Annex B certified organization, Uni-Recycle is globally recognized for fully secure data wiping. But we don’t stop there—we are also certified under R2v3 Annex C for testing and repairing electronic devices. This ensures the maximum reuse of the equipment we collect, contributing to a greener and more responsible future.
With Uni-Recycle, IT and electronics recycling for businesses goes one step beyond the rest of the market.
Why do you plant trees?
We have committed to offset the greenhouse gas emissions generated annually by our activities. The most effective way for us to do this is by planting trees. Indeed, trees absorb emitted CO₂ while also releasing additional oxygen into the surrounding environment, along with numerous other benefits.
Why this works :
- Carbon sequestration: Trees capture and store atmospheric CO₂ through photosynthesis, reducing greenhouse gas levels and mitigating climate change.
- Improved air quality & oxygen production: As trees absorb CO₂ and pollutants, they release fresh oxygen, contributing to cleaner air.
- Additional environmental perks: Beyond climate impact, trees support biodiversity, mitigate heat, prevent soil erosion, and purify water.
What is the Uni-Recycle open-plan workspace?
YES. Since November 2021, we have operated our own open-plan workspace that welcomes around sixty participants from the CIUSSS MCQ throughout the week, with a capacity of around twenty persons per day. These people are on the autism spectrum or have other disabilities. The open plan work enables them to integrate the job market with the appropriate resources. They are highly enthusiastic and truly delighted to work for Uni-Recycle—they feel accomplished. It’s important to note that these individuals are supervised by professionals adapted to their needs, from the CIUSSS MCQ.
What are your social commitments?
We support several organizations each year. For example, we took part in Leucan’s ski challenge. In addition, all the ink cartridges we collect are donated to the Mira Foundation. We also make various donations to the Breakfast Club of Canada and the Douglas Foundation. Moreover, we hope to expand our social commitments even further in the future.
BUSINESS – How can I look up what was recycled?
The recycling certificate is the document you receive by email within 30 days after your collection. This certificate contains the details and the number of devices we have recovered during your collection. Additionally, your collection is identified by a unique number that allows us to know at all times where it is in the process.
My computer is no longer useful! What can I do?
At Uni-Recycle, our commitment to the environment and the community comes above all else.
Knowing that 80% of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions stem from the manufacturing and transportation of electronic devices, we all benefit from giving a second life to your unused computer. That’s why maximizing the reuse of these devices is one of our top priorities.
This approach is, first and foremost, an ecological one: recycling a still-functional computer is wasteful. Assuming it’s useless is a common mistake. This is where the social aspect of our mission becomes just as crucial. A computer that is no longer useful to you or your business can be invaluable to someone who has never owned one.
Your device, considered obsolete, can become a powerful tool capable of bridging the digital divide for someone unable to afford new equipment.
Thanks to our R2v3 Annex B certification, we guarantee the protection of your data from the moment you entrust us with your computer—using a globally recognized security process. Then, with our R2v3 Annex C certification, we are able to maximize reuse—even reviving devices deemed obsolete or defective.
Reuse is the first step in a truly thoughtful and eco-friendly recycling process.
By choosing Uni-Recycle, you’re doing more than just taking an action for the environment : you’re participating in a chain of solidarity and innovation that helps build a better world. Our mission goes beyond simply reusing devices—it’s part of a broader vision where every action counts toward preserving our planet and supporting those most in need.
This is everyone’s responsibility.
